Questions people ask
Do I pay an agency fee?
No. Rentleey does not charge an agency fee. Tenants pay a fixed Rentleey service fee of ₦25,000 (₦30,000 for homes above ₦800,000 a year), plus the rent, caution and agreement fee set by the landlord. Every amount is shown before you pay — for example, a ₦300,000 home with ₦30,000 caution and a ₦20,000 agreement fee set by the landlord costs ₦375,000 in total to move in.
Can I see the house before I pay?
Yes. Watch the verified video first, then book a free viewing on WhatsApp. You pay nothing until you've seen the house, chosen it, and the landlord has accepted you — and then you pay only through Rentleey, never in cash at the house.
What do I need to rent a home?
When you choose a home, Rentleey checks you once: a photo of any ID and one proof of income — payslips, a bank or POS statement from your bank app, or a sponsor's details if you're a student. It takes about 2 minutes on WhatsApp, and you can do it while the landlord decides. No BVN needed. The landlord only sees that you passed, never your documents, and a passed check lasts 6 months.
How do you verify homes?
A Rentleey field representative visits every home and records a video showing every room, the toilet, running water and the roof. Our team reviews every video, and separately checks every landlord's ID and proof that they own the house (or the owner's permission) before it is listed.
How is my caution fee protected?
Every home shows whether its caution is refundable before you book. If it is: on move-in day, Rentleey reminds you to record a short video of every room on WhatsApp, and sends it to the landlord to confirm. When you move out, you record the house again. The landlord compares the two videos to decide your refund, you can agree or dispute any deduction, and Rentleey follows up until you confirm the refund has arrived.
Does Rentleey own the houses?
No. Homes on Rentleey belong to landlords we have verified. We connect tenants and landlords and help the whole process go smoothly.
